Come on... who has the results? I couldn't make it to the announcement last night but am anxious to hear how it played out. Who won?
Update:
September 4, 2008 (Bethesda, MD) – The Trawick Prize: Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards announced the top four prize winners on Wednesday evening during the exhibition’s opening at Heineman Myers Contemporary Art. Maggie Michael from Washington, D.C. was awarded “Best in Show” with $10,000; Dan Steinhilber of Washington, D.C. was named second place and was given $2,000; Bernhard Hildebrandt of Baltimore, MD was bestowed third place and received $1,000 and the “Young Artist” award of $1,000 was given to Ryan Browning of Mount Airy, MD.
The artists selected as finalists are:
Joseph Barbaccia, Potomac Falls, VA
Ryan Browning, Mount Airy, MD
Lynn Cazabon, Baltimore, MD
Warren Craghead III, Charlottesville, VA
Dawn Gavin, Baltimore, MD
Bernhard Hildebrandt, Baltimore, MD
Kristin Holder, Washington, D.C.
Kay Hwang, Baltimore, MD
Baby Martinez, Washington, D.C.
Maggie Michael, Washington, D.C.
Youngmi S. Organ, Nokesville, VA
Tony Shore, Baltimore, MD
Molly Springfield, Washington. D.C.
Dan Steinhilber, Washington, D.C.
Heide Trepanier, Richmond, VA
Not a bad haul for the husband/wife duo (Maggie and Dan for those who don't know). I figured the only way Dan could lose was to his wife. After all, no one else on this list have had their work hanging in the Hirshhorn between a Warhol and a Judd. Of course, Maggie's work is included in the Hirshhorn collection as well.

Under 30 (1K) - Ryan Browning
3rd place (1K) - Bernhard Hildebrandt
2nd place (2K) - Dan Steinhilber
Best in show (10K) - Maggie Michael

It's a great show. It was a fun evening. I suggest everyone take some time to go to Heineman Myers to see for themselves. I'll be there again on Friday the 12th. It's the night of the Public opning.
Warren Craighead was a winner of sorts as well. I saw at least one red dot next to a piece of his.

We are all winners. The show was really great so people should go see it. Make sure to look at the little book I have stuck in one of my postcards too.

Every piece in the show is awesome. Such genius in all the work. Imaginative, fresh, playful, and there are some surprising works within works. On Wednesday, the joint was packed with people waiting outside to get in. People were waiting to get in when we opened on Thursday.

Wow... such enthusiasm for this show! I figured we'd expect such great work from the best artists in the region, but perhaps this enthusiasm says more about previous incarnations of the Trawick Prize than this one. :)
While I haven't seen the show yet and am skeptical about some of the works seen on the web site, I will reserve judgment until I can see it in person. Problem is, when am I ever going to make it to Bethesda?

Ha ha ha. Fair enough. I'm planning on going the last day... the 27th. I look forward to it.
