Heather Lowe participates in the Artists Interview Artists Project. Below Heather responds to another artist's five questions (Samantha Wolov from Washington, D.C.). In order to participate, Heather had to provide me with five questions for some other artist to answer. The assigning of questions to artists is completely random. If you're an artist and interested in participating, let me know.

1. Why art? Why not medicine or interpretive dance?
I already tried the other two. Art's a LOT better.
2. Due to the subjective nature of art, it is understandable that there is usually an element of the personal in the creative process. Can you ever completely remove yourself from your art, or have you ever wanted to?
No, I have never wanted to.
3. Honestly, to what extent does your future work shift or evolve depending on societal expectations and public perceptions of you? To what extent are other people's opinions a factor in creating your work?
Depends on who's talkin'. If it's a beggar off the street, most likely I'll listen to 'em. If it's a critic/writer such as Gleason, I'll take it with a grain of salt. If it's Harold Pinter I'll start all over again, if neccessary.
4. In an online comic ("Diesel Sweeties", for those of you keeping score), a character tells children to keep up with their art because in ten years, it'll be the only thing about that them is remotely interesting. As someone who apparently did keep up with the art, is there any truth to this idea?
Absolutely, Completely true. No doubt about it.
5. What do you want people to walk away with when they see your work?
I don't want them to walk away.

Hi Heather,
Very witty. I didn't know that Pinter would make such a difference in your perception of your artwork, since he is not a visual artist. Were you careful not to mention your favorite artists or art critics so that the viewers wouldn't set up expectations? Again, very clever. I'm glad they have a link to your website.
Good job!

Thanks.
Well, Pinter covers a lot of ground these days, in my book.
Hey, I did mention Mat Gleason, didn't I?
