Artists Interview Artists: Matt Hollis
Matt Hollis, a local artist, participates in the Artist Interview Artists Project. Below Matt responds to another artist's five questions (Juno Doran from London). In order to participate, Matt had to provide me with five questions for some other artist to answer. The assigning of questions to artists is completely random. If you're an artist and interested in participating, let me know.

1. What is the first thing that usually comes to your mind first thing in the morning?
First thing in the morning I am lingering in the residue of the last night’s dreams. Savoring the moments where nothing quite makes sense yet. I am looking forward to the day but reflecting on the events in my dreams at the same time.
2. Is there any major change in your life you always wish for but feel you can attain?
The wording of this question plays with my head…I wish for a fully functional studio with every tool I could possibly need and I think that I could achieve that with a lot of time and money, but it would be worth it.
3. What do you feel when you tell non-artists that you're an artist?
I am sick to death of the non-artist’s immediate response that they don’t have a creative bone in their body and they can’t even draw a stick figure. Why they feel the need to say that to me I have never understood. They say it almost defensively too, closing themselves off from creative thinking. I tell them that they haven’t realized their creative side yet. Artists and non-artists are not that different.
4. As an artist what do you feel the internet has done for you, both on a positive and negative sense?
The internet has been a wonderful tool for my artistic development. My website has given me more exposure and provides a public face for my work The blog scene has really added a new element to the art world with more discussion and creative endeavors like these interviews.
5. How are you?
I am wonderful. Things are very good and I could not be happier.
