Andrew Krieger: Imagination
Drawing and mark making have always been the foundation of my work. The strength, delicacy and enjoyment I feel from the successful application of these techniques fulfill the criteria of a visual satisfaction that I see through my own eye. This is my vision, and the results of the successful use of the skills of my craft.
My work is influenced by numerous sources. I consider observation, exploration and my imagination to be the prominent components that stimulate my thought process. My approach to work is a blending of these elements allowing me to integrate the influences of my visual/emotional observations, the exploration of materials/designs/mediums and to draw from the well of my creative imagination.
Early on in my career I felt the need to take my images/thoughts off the page, to build my drawings. I began building three dimensional compositions. Working between two dimensional and three dimensional formats my working style has evolved with a diverse pallet of traditional techniques and innovative mark making skills. My constructions center on the organization of forms, lines, tonal values and language into dynamic stages of interaction on a three dimensional stage.
The focus of my work continues to be the use of traditional techniques, my interest in form, an interest in architecture/construction, political/social themes, whit with humor and the desire to push the envelope of my own boundaries forward.

Hello to anyone enjoying this site!!
I am working with high school students in NYC. I saw Andrew's show in Washington D.C. at the Corcoran Museum a few months ago. It was amazing and got the wheels turning. I am currently working on a lesson plan to get my students thinking about their perceptions of themselves--inside and out!! So we are doing a creative art project with the Box. I will have them look at Andrew's artwork--if anyone has any other suggestions for artists references please let me know.
Thanks!
Annie
