Joseph Barbaccia: Commitment

Northern Virginia, artist, Joseph Barbaccia, continues my recent project by writing about "commitment." As usual, I extend an invitation to all local artists who would like to participate in this effort. Just email me!

Joseph Barbaccia: Commitment

Disregard Marketing.
Ignore Networking.
Overlook Criticism.

Engage yourself to YOUR art. Have faith in YOUR vision. If you’re bad; create bad art. If you’re naïve; create naively. If thin; thin art. Keep true to your vision with every brush stroke or movement or thought.

I pledge allegiance to my art of the fruition of my being and to the meme for which it stands, one image, over god, with liberty and vision for all.

Reject Emulation.
Brush aside Acceptance.
Negate Negativity.

Engage your self with every artistic activity, because your movements define your art. You have an obligation to your work.
Make a vow to your vision. Do not cheat.
Love yourself/Love your work.

Promise yourself that your Art’s needs will come before your needs.

Dump any opinions (Including your own. And including what you read here.)
Continue with your own point of view.
Be true to it. Focus.

Let your vision grow.
Change your perspective with each new understanding.
Commit to no thing.
